Olodumare Creates Oro
Before we continue with the birth of the Oricha Ellegua we have to step back and continue the Pataki of Olodumare.
Olodumare took lots of pride creating the universe. Olodumare is known to as the king of the beginning and end. The truth behind this is when there was darkness Olodumare made the stars so the universe was now no longer in the dark. so it was the beginning of something new but the end of darkness. He created other stars and masses of unlivable land but they were beautiful.
Olodumare began thinking of a world he could call his resting place, here he was attracted to a gaseous mass of hydrogen that contained oxygen and (H2o). He noted that this cloud of gases contained all the elements needed to create his new perfect world. This area of the universe where he was visioning to create could allow the perfect weather and future growth of his Orisa (elements). This specific condition would create such a mass and gas that will let his children (Orisa elements) to live during the cold temperatures and continue to grow with ase.

With his Ase a new formation exploded and erupted into a ball of flames. This ball of flames and mass eventually cooled down as it cooled Olodumare saw a extraordinary creation before his eyes. This new world held only gases and fog which rose from the new worlds crust. The little water that existed vaporized into a fog from the hot molten core within. Unknown to Olodumare, at this point he had given life to this molten core. This hot molten core was created by Olodumare. Olodumare saw how beautiful this Orisa was and named her Oro Iña. Oro Ina is a Oricha not commonly know or recognized. But Orisa Oro Ina is one of the most powerful Orisa in the universe. This Orisa is now today known as Mother earth. Oro Iña when is angered, her emotions can pour over onto the world and could be seen by the entire world. Her emotions of molten lava can explode into the air. Her emotions can travel thousands of feet into the air and when she explodes she can destroy everything in her path.This is known today as the volcano. Oro Iña tries many times not to explode in emotions but when she does hold her tempered emotions back. she begins to shake frantically. She has a seizure like attacks. This is known today as Earth quakes. Oro Iña besides her strong emotions is also the most beautiful Orisa created by Olodumare. Even though she is a uncommon and a unrecognized Orisa, Oro Iña can be petitioned for the essence of beauty and her love as a mother. she can be petitioned for the blessing of a new born (new spirit). She is known to be the mother of all creations born from the earth itself. Examples Vegetation,Gold,diamonds,coal and other precious minerals made with her power. She also has created beautiful mountains and made space for other Oricha to take shelter. Most Olorichas (santeros) wear gold or it is a blessing for the God children to bless their God Father with blessings of Gold. This is worn to be closer to mother earth.
Silver is worn and Gifted to Oloricha's who are continuing their path to higher priest hood.
It is know that the creation of the earth began at the Republic of Nigeria and what is now known as the city of ILE IFE, it is where the world was created and begun. But it is said if this is where it begun why is there no Volcano located there. To be exact there are no volcanoes in the yoruba land. Oro Iña continued to create land with her anger as the hen continue to create the island of sand. Between them both they populated the earth with land and sand. Oro's hot tempered cause all the the water to evaporate. This evaporation cause another element to be born. A imaginary border. This border is unseen to the human eye, but it identifys where Oro (earth) ends and the beginning of the heavens. Oro Iña came to realized that through her angered emotion she was able to give birth to 2 Orichas (elements). Oro realised the beauty of her births. (today they are known as the ozone layer and the atmosphere). Oro giving birth to these 2 Orichas. She understood that her birth being different from the Irunmoles and that her existence was indeed a beauty of no other. Oro was the first "Mother of Elements". She was so intrigued that she promised Olodumare that she will try to control her emotions of fury. Oro will try to have self control and only when necessary let her emotions be seen (erupt) only on the wishes of Olodumare. Oro has kept her promise to Olodumare to the best of her ability, but now and then her emotions are revealed with the activity of life on her. Oro was not just made up of land and sand but gave birth to the first elements. Oro was smiling at Olodumare. She watched as her new borns displayed their new born beauty. A beauty and love only a mother can understand.

So now the Orisha Oro was Entertained with her children. The world became a beautiful sight. (remember there is no water). With the water being evaporated so quickly. The atmosphere Orisha was created. Olodumare already had spoken to Obatala and were creating orishas to visit Oro (Earth). A creation that the Hen and Oro have manifested. Olodumare became very determined that he wanted to visit his Orisha Oro. Olodumare is so humongous and powerful that his identity is greater then the universe itself. How was he going to visit Oro? The only way was to create another Orisha that would take a form of no other but a spiritual one and small enough to visit Oro. The Orishas created was given the name "Oddua/Oduduwa" "Oddua" would have a small portion of Olodumare's spirit, and he would be able to spiritually act as Olodumare on earth. Now you will read and hear that Oddua created the beginning and end of earth. You will also here that Oddua holds the secrets to death. Which is true but we must keep focus that at this time there was only creations and births of the Orishas. Death did not exist. Oddua is another form of Olodumare created to spiritually walk and visit Oro and to observe her growth and beauty. Oddua is said to have given shape to the world, but it won't be hard to understand if you take into consideration that Olodumare is Oddua. Oddua is .0000000001 percent of Olodumare. In Myth you will hear that oddua shaped the earth on the highest mountain. This is Myth due to earth was already round and the mountains were not yet created. Common sense gives you the answers.
Olodumare now in a spiritual giant visits Oro and walks north towards south and then walks east to west. As he walks east to west at a constant pace, he creates the rotation of the earth. As you watch Oro spinning on her Axis you will see that it appears as if someone is walking on a treadmill. As Oddua continues to walk with speed he creates even more Orishas. One of the greatest Orishas IS "Oya" OYA is the orisha of wind. This is her true birth identity. now you will hear lots of Pataki's about OYA, but this is who Oya really is. She is the Orisha of Wind!! As Oya is created Olodumare like a child loves the wind and begins to walk faster. The faster he walked the more powerful Oya became. He also noticed that Oya was very forceful as she was able to move Oddua from his straight walk path. Oya was also able to duplicate herself and cause different changes on Oro. As he observed Oya growing in strength, he realised that she can easily be out of control. as Oddua starts to slow his pace he observes that Oya starts to also loose strength. So, he begins to walk so slow that Oya loses her stregth and becomes a small wind of a breeze to Oddua, but to man Oya winds at this time were up to 360 miles per hour. Oddua now ask oro to help him control Oya. Oro also ask her children the atmosphere and ozone layer to help control Oya from leaving earth and head towards the heavens with such force. Oya with such unseen force was able to move Oddua imagine the kaos she can cause in the heavens. In doing so there is no wind in space!! As oddua continued walking around and exploring Oro, Oro shouted out to Oddua you have created lines around me. what is this? Oddua walking around Oro created a imaginary path of his walk. The main path of his walk is now known as the Equator. The other lines are known today as longitude and latitude. These lines were caused when Oya pushed him away from his main path. In Lucumi tradition Oddua name means Longitude or Longevity. Now to also clear a myth you will hear that Oddua was the first man. He was not remembering Oddua took the identity of a spirit a big giant spirit. not as a man, there is only one path that took the spirit of Olodumare as a man on earth.
