Ancestors & Orisa Altars

Our ancestor altar is a place where you can go to speak to and receive guidance from your ancestors. Creating an altar shows your ancestors that you value and welcome their communication. If you don't feel as though you have the guidance of your ancestors, creating an altar space is a great way to start. An ancestor altar is an effective and beautiful way to connect with and gain support from the spirit world. It can be as simple as a photograph and a glass of water, or as elaborate as the spirits direct. An even stronger connection than a photograph is a little dirt from your ancestors' graves. In this unit we will discuss The Altars of our Ancestors and Orichas.

Ra Zi Altar

She would always say that our "muertos" always need to have their water and light on the altar. When you want to talk to them or feel them close to you, go the altar, knock 4 times on it, ask for their blessings and talk to them.

I add a teddy bear because she was crazy about stuffed animals!

This is my way to feel her close to me

Taneika Blessed by faith Turner Altars

Here are my alters:

On my Yemaya alter I have a blue candle, plant, fishbowl with plants, waist beads and a flower agate crystal.

My ancestor alter sits on a stand with my author's name and books I wrote. My grandmother picture is first, behind her I have other ancestors, I haven’t put them in individual picture frames yet. I have business plans inside a wish jar. I keep my Tarot and Oracle on here. Inside the glove is graveyard dirt from my grandmother grave site, blessing oil I made, and crystals. I try to keep the date accurate, but I fall behind. Of course, my elephant ears plant on the side.

Here’s my ancestral alter. I have water, crystals, candle I keep on 24 hours, incense. Pictures of my ancestors. The ones I don’t have pics for I call their name. Pendulum for clarity when they are speaking. Brandy, Cigs, candy, money, food i refresh twice a week. Jennifer ancestral oil...I also burn ancestral money, I just learned of that practice like 3 weeks ago. Any work I do I put in there to be blessed.
